As Christians, we are members of God's household (Ephesians 2:19) called to function, participate and minister in a particular place within the body of Christ. A healthy body requires each part to function well. A healthy church requires the same: people that are sacrificially committed and well-equipped to do the works of service that God has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10; 4:12).
If you are a follower of Christ, then you are called to be a co-owner in His church. We invite you to help make Mystery happen. Ownership of the church is a declaration that shows you are moving from being a consumer to being an investor...that you are joining, not simply the community of Christ, but the whole cause of Christ. Ownership means that you have moved from asking "What can I receive from the church?" to actively asking "What do I have to give?"
Typically, the standards of ownership are ascribed to leadership in a church, but we are calling the entire community to a standard of ownership. Ownership is an invitation to genuine intimacy. When people move from spectators to owners, they are declaring submission of their lives to the spiritual authority of this community and welcoming genuine accountability in their lives and on their spiritual journeys.
Jesus does not need us for anything - he invites us into participation. Mystery does, however, need your help to accompish God's calling on our church and in this city. We are asking you to own the church rather than simply watching and consuming. Mystery is calling people to ownership...to live sacrificially, so people can meet Jesus.
Please talk to one of our pastor's or Community Group Leaders if you are considering calling Mystery your home. Our primary concern is not that you become part Mystery, but that you become a part of one particular local church. It is our desire that you develop a biblical, enthusiastic conviction about the importance of active involvement in a single local church. Then, with that conviction, find a church home where you can worship Jesus, grow in your relationship with Him, and serve in ways that glorify Him. If that church home is Mystery, then it will be our joy to serve alongside you.
"Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." 1 Peter 4:8-10 (ESV)
"For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." Romans 12:3-5 (ESV)
